Okanagan Automation specializes in industrial control systems. We are not an electrical company that attempts controls or a a civil engineering company with an electrical division, we are a controls company with engineers and technologists who design, build, field install and support new industrial control systems. In addition to new system design, Okanagan Automation’s field techs and electricians provide program and electrical troubleshooting support to industry.
We design and lay out all aspects of electrical and control for new or replacement systems. Our system designs draw from a combined thirty years of control design experience. Through collaborative consultations with our clients we specify appropriate system components and generate complete, in-house construction drawings that detail the system, including panel layouts, process and identification, electrical control schematics, and power distribution.
For every project, our team performs a thorough assessment of the initial condition of all mechanical, electrical and control components in order to determine the project’s scope and requirements. Our approach is adaptable to ensure that our customer’s needs are met, whether it is troubleshooting, direct replacement of components, programming adjustments or complete system designs.
Concept to Completion
Throughout the design process Okanagan Automation meets with clients and other contractors in tender, pre-construction and construction meetings to revise system designs to ensure that projects move ahead in good time and in good order. From initial consultation to certification of total completion, we manage our projects via on and off site consultations, as well as by phone, text, email, video conferencing or web call in order to facilitate communication and ensure as smooth a project as possible.
Proficient in Numerous Techniques
Our programmers write programs to control any process from high speed motion applications in North America’s largest sawmills to feedback loop control in gel cap pill drying tunnels. We are adept at writing programmes for Allen-Bradley, SCADAPak, Siemens, GE, Omron, Modicon, Telemechanique and a wide variety of others. We write in function block or ladder logic and have written programmes from single pump control in parks to full plant control in forestry, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and mining. In addition, our team has the know-how to establish networks, direct communications and data gathering throughout systems with homogenous or mixed components.
Available Resources
Okanagan Automation has a fully equipped panel shop with field experienced builders. Our shop has built hundreds of CSA approved drive, contactor, distribution, process control and PLC panels featuring a wide array of operator interfaces. Our electricians also conduct field installations and our technologists offer full system commissioning from straight forward processor replacements to entire machine overhauls. Our field crews are well equipped to troubleshoot system failures in urban or remote locations and are adept at finding efficient, appropriate and safe programming and hardware solutions. Okanagan Automation’s large distributor network allows us to find identical replacement parts or suitable substitutions for any application.
Training and Ongoing Support
All of Okanagan Automation’s projects are well supported and include training and orientation sessions for operations staff and management, along with easy to understand operator and troubleshooting manuals. Okanagan Automation remains committed to their designs throughout the life of the installation.
